Bargello Museum

The museum that is housed in Bargello Palace is one of the most important places in Florence because it is almost never overcrowded, and also it is one of the best places in Florence that will help you understand the period of Renaissance (it has a number of works of art belonging to that period including several statues by Donatello, Michelangelo, Giambologna and Verrocchio).

This museum was opened to the public in 1865 when the palace was restored and contains, apart from the stunning collection of statues, some rooms dedicated to the connoisseurs Franchetti and Carrand, that display a wide variety of objects from the ones used in everyday life (glasses, keys, enamelled medals, brushes) to peculiar works of art (ivory, jewels).
